Vintage Christmas Album Covers

I’m too young to remember these Christmas albums. The ones from my childhood were sold by K-tel in the late 70s and early 80s. The album would open up to form a pop-up Christmas scene which my father would display on our old stereo console. It was awesome.

Not quite this awesome.

Happy Festivus 09!

One day I’m going to do this wonderful holiday right. I’ve got a lot of grievances.

25 Creepy Mall Santas

While I still believe this is the greatest Christmas picture ever taken, I’ve since found that it is certainly not the creepiest.

The Greatest Christmas Picture Ever

When you’re young Santa Claus can be a little scary, and for some kids sitting on Santa’s lap can be downright traumatic. Fortunately, these near death experiences often lend themselves to great imagery. Now maybe I’m a little biased, but I don’t think you’ll find a better example of the genre than this picture of my girlfriend completely losing it.

I even decided to use it as the winter banner for her website.

The look of horror on her face, the adorable outfit, the garish background, Santa’s thousand mile stare screaming ‘oh dear God what have I gotten myself into’… and yet, remarkably, she keeps it together enough to look directly into the camera. It all adds up to the Greatest Christmas Picture Ever.

Ocea & Casey

I doggy-sat Ocea and Casey for a night recently. Ocea is a male chocolate lab. Casey, a rescued dog, is a young boxer mix. They were both very friendly and like all dogs pretty awesome.

The 200 Dollar Droid is Aging Well

One of the biggest complaints about the iPhone is that the battery is part of the phone. You can’t carry an extra and change it out when needed.

Well, for 200 bucks you can buy a Droid and not only can you change the battery but you’ll be able to use a hip Verizon sticker to keep it from falling out.

Red Sox, Lackey agree to five-year deal | MLB.com: News

Free agent right-hander John Lackey agreed to a deal with Boston on Monday reportedly worth as much as $87.5 million over five years.

Signing John Lackey along with outfielder Mike Cameron points to a Red Sox team built on pitching and fielding rather than slugging. Considering they’ll never out Yankee the Yankees, and a run prevented is as good as one scored, I approve.

Sad to see Jason Bay move on. I enjoyed the season and a half he spent in left field. But I won’t miss seeing what a 31 year old that strikes out in huge numbers and plays terrible defense looks like when he’s 35.
