Boston Swept by Tampa
A little alarming, huh?
Game one went 11 innings and ended with 42 year old Timlin giving up the winning run while a well rested Papelbon warmed up in the bullpen.
Game two was lost when Francona allowed Buchholz to throw his 110th pitch of the game which was knocked for a 2 run homer. Papelbon again stayed in the bullpen.
In game three Beckett was dominant with a career high 13 strikeouts but was backed up with zero run support.
In the last 25 innings the Red Sox have scored a total of 2 runs, Varitek is 0-6 with 3 strikeouts since coming back from the flu, and Francona allowed two winnable games to slip away without using the best closer in the game.
On the bright side, we can put those Buchholz vs. Hughes debates behind us for now.
