An Apple Phone, That’s All I Ask
MacWorld 07 is coming. In a way it’s a second Christmas with Steve Jobs taking on the role of santa, an angrier, grumpier santa. Unlike Christmas as a kid when I would sneak peeks at my presents in the closet, I have no idea what santa’s bring me, but I know what I’m wishing for.
The Unofficial Apple Weblog asks “What are you most excited for at Macworld 07?“. To which I reply, is there any doubt? I want my iPhone MacPhone (MacTalk?), and I’ve been a good boy. Even if it’s not ready for release, I hope it’s existence is at least confirmed. Don’t listen to the nay-sayers. Those are the same people that laughed at the iPod, said switching to intel would kill apple, and still use microsoft office on their mac. They are the unbelievers. I believe.
I’m not a tough customer, there’s no need to sell me on it. Release it, I’ll buy it, and if you make it available through Verizon, tomorrow. That said, I do have a few simple request:
- Make it a passable phone. Some people spend their lives on a cell phone. Don’t try to please these people. If it’s good enough for a call here or there, it’s good enough.
- Allow simple input with mini versions of iCal, Mail, iPhoto etc. while syncing wirelessly (bluetooth) with my MacBook using iSync.
- Be a basic iPod. There’s no need to replace my real iPod. It’s o.k. to be my iPod light. I have my phone on me 24/7. My iPod rarely.
- A decent camera. When syncing with my MacBook throw them in iPhoto in a MacPhone folder.
- Mobile iChat.
- Voice memos that are transferred into a memo folder when synced with my MacBook.
- Admittedly a long shot, allow some ease of functionality tied in with dot mac. Some will cry foul, but if done well, along with the rumored 30 gb increase in storage, it may finally make dot mac worth the price.
That’s it. A decent iPod, phone, and organizer wrapped up in a beautiful Apple design that syncs wirelessly with my MacBook. Is that too much to ask?
